Custom LASIK

Many patients in the past have been turned down for LASIK because their prescriptions were too high for a microkeratome flap because the Intrlase does not utilize a blade, one can make a thinner flap, which keeps the treatment more superficial in the cornea.which will allow some previously non-candidates (especially those with higher prescriptions) to safely have LASIK whereas, LASIK with a microkeratome would not have been able

In planning a LASIK procedure, the surgeon will calculate the proposed flap thickness, the ablation depth (how much corneal tissue will be removed and subtract this from the total corneal thickness. In this calculation, there has to be a certain minimum amount of corneal tissue “untouched.”
